12 – 13 Jun 1999: Sibu Island, Malaysia
KW and I are going for a short gateaway to Sibu. Make no mistake, there is no spelling error; it is SIBU of Malaysia and not the famous CEBU. Pulau Sibu is a small island off Malaysia’s eastern coast, facing the South China Sea. It is actually made up of several islands namely Sibu Besar Island, Sibu Tengah Island, Sibu Kukus Island and Sibu Hujung Island. And today, we are staying at Sibu Tengah Island.
As we boarded the island, cool pineapple cocktails welcomed us into the resort area. The resort looks like a typical Malay Kampung from the outside.
However, the interior is pretty rustic. The classic bed is particularly comfortable.
The main leisure activities on the island are watersports such as snorkeling and diving; but its main beauty are the numerous coral reefs, smooth white beach and clear blue waters.
You can see rabbits and chickens roaming around outside your room. But I saw this poor “kid” (baby goat) tied to a tree.
Two days passed by so quickly. In no time, I am waiting quietly at the pier for the ferry. It is sometime relaxing to spend a couple of days just with your buddy.
